Cosmetic Dentistry is about making you feel good about yourself. Whether it’s making your teeth look whiter, bigger, smaller or straighter, Hinterland Dental in Cooroy proudly has the best cosmetic dentist on the Sunshine Coast that can make you feel confident and look great, with longer lasting solutions.

What is a Dental Veneer?

Dental veneers are thin shells of tooth coloured porcelain (or resin, in the case of dental bonding), which are custom made to bond to teeth. They are excellent for front teeth and improve the colour, shape and overall appearance.

For Sunshine Coast residents, the resin or porcelain veneer procedure involves a minimal amount of tooth being removed and minimal visits are required.

What are Dental Crowns?

Crowns are typically used to restore a tooth’s function and appearance. Crowns can be made of porcelain or ceramic material which can be matched to the colour of your natural teeth and sometimes gold and metal alloys may be recommended.

Our cosmetic dentists will recommend a crown to:

  • Replace a large filling when there isn’t enough tooth remaining
  • Protect a weak tooth from fracturing
  • Restore a fractured tooth
  • Attach a bridge
  • Cover a dental implant
  • Cover a discoloured or poorly shaped tooth
  • Cover a tooth that has had root canal treatment

Tooth Whitening

This is a safe, simple, effective, and long lasting procedure. It is a non-invasive way to improve the appearance of your teeth without having to remove any tooth structure.

The teeth whitening treatment involves wearing custom made trays for a minimum of 30 minutes each day for about 2 weeks. A whitening gel is placed in the trays to lighten the colour of the teeth.

The amount of time the tray is worn varies according to individual needs and recommendations by your Sunshine Coast dentist.

Tooth whitening is not suitable for pregnant or breast-feeding women. Whitening is ineffective on existing fillings, veneers or crowns.

What is a Dental Bridge?

When you are missing one or more teeth a bridge may be desirable as a non removable option to replace these missing teeth.  Dental bridges literally ‘bridge’ the gap between teeth. This is done by replacing the missing teeth with a strong, artificial tooth. This artificial tooth is placed between two crowns. Together, they make a ‘bridge’. These artificial teeth are natural looking and will give the appearance of a perfectly healthy set of teeth.

Dental bridges will restore your smile, and ease the process of chewing and speaking. Installing them will also prevent other teeth from losing their alignment. They can last for a long time provided proper oral hygiene is maintained.

Similar to crowns there is a choice of materials for bridges and your dentist can help you decide what is best for you taking into account its location and function and how you want it to look.
