What is a dental implant?
The first dental implant was placed in the early 1980’s, since then they have evolved and improved to become one of the most successful treatments available for replacing missing teeth.

An implant is a medical-grade titanium screw placed into the jawbone as a substitute for a missing tooth root. They are allowed to integrate naturally with the bone (a process called osseointegration) before a crown, bridge or denture is fitted to replace one or more missing teeth.

Dental implants should not be placed until growth has ceased, which is usually around twenty years of age. Most patients, who are in good general health with good oral hygiene are suitable, although a thorough oral and medical assessment is required to deem suitability. How much do dental implants cost?

How long does it take to fit a dental implant?
Usually, we will wait approximately 6-12 weeks following tooth extraction before placing the implant.
We then wait approximately 6-12 weeks for osseointegration.
It then takes appproximately 2 to 4 weeks to make the final crown.
